Editorial policy

Useful guidance is specific about what is known, what can change, and what still requires independent verification.

Source standard

We prefer Ecuadorian government, municipal, health-system, registry, and other primary sources for consequential facts. We use reputable secondary sources when they add context, and we identify observation or inference as such.

Named authorship

Every core guide carries a named reviewer — Amy Prisco — together with a review date and the next scheduled review. We do not publish under a collective byline, because an anonymous author cannot be held to a correction.

Numbers we will not publish

Where a figure cannot be traced to a dated, identifiable source, we say so and leave the gap visible. Our cost-of-living section names the categories we could not verify — water tariffs, taxi fares, and insurance pricing above age 70 among them — rather than filling them with plausible-sounding estimates. A labelled gap is more useful than a confident guess, and considerably more honest.

Claims that change

Legal procedures, healthcare availability, safety guidance, transport, costs, taxes, residency rules, and property conditions can change. These claims should carry a review date, a source, cautious language, or an explicit instruction to verify the current situation.

Cotacachi-Realty.com is the informational layer. Live inventory is maintained on Ecuador-Realty.com. External listing links are clearly labeled. Commercial interest does not replace independent professional advice or verification.

Corrections

Material corrections should be made promptly. When a change affects the meaning of a guide, we update its review date and source ledger. Minor spelling or formatting changes do not imply a fresh factual review.
